Everything began оn April 17th, 2012 at 6.00 am when we set off to Sofia by bus. We continued our journey by plane- a flight to Krakow via Warsaw. After a tiring day of travelling we arrived at 8.00 pm in Krakow- a really unique city. The lights at night make it look even bigger and brighter. Each of us went with her host family. People were very welcoming and positive.
Every day in the beautiful city of Krakow was different and unique. On Wednesday and Thursday we had two classes with our hosts and new friends Paulina and Joanna. They are in the 11th grade, but we study similar things. The school is large and old. There are a tennis court and football ground in the school yard. Except us – students from Bulgaria – there were children from all partner-schools: from Portugal, Italy, Romania and Latvia. We got to know each other and we made good friends.
On Wednesday we presented our presentation on the topic ‘’ The rescuing of Bulgarian Jews during World War II.’’ After that we went on a guided tour around the old part of Krakow , Wawel Castle and other sights of the city. We learned many interesting new things.
On Thursday after working sessions at school we visited the Salt mine in Wieliczka, a small town near Krakow. The view is unforgettable. Everything down there is from salt: the walls, the floor, the ceiling and the statues. After wandering all day we were tired, but we didn’t have the right to rest. We continued with walks and magnificent views. At night Krakow is even more beautiful and majestic. It looks like this city never sleeps. The streets are always full of either locals, tourists or just street musicians who play live music, contributing to the unique atmosphere of the city.
On the next day – Friday – we were in Auschwitz (the concentration camp). The visit was depressing and tiring, But it’s a must, a good lesson to stop the wars and to be tolerant to each other.
On Saturday morning we visited a unique underground museum, containing various exhibits, hundreds of years old. We spent the rest of the day enjoying the city and having fun. After all day full pf walks and funny moments, it was time to pack our luggage. It was time to say “Good-bye” to our new friends so we were all quite sad but enriched with emotions and experiences. . We said goodbye and promised to meet in March 2013 in Bulgaria.
This is the best trip who we have ever been. We want to thank again to our friends from Poland for their warm hospitality and unforgettable moments!
